Off-Road Velociraptor Safari is a 3D browser game developed by Flashbang Studios using the Unity engine. Players hunt raptors in an off-road jeep, and acquire points by executing stunts. You have only a maximum of five minutes to achieve the highest score possible. Multipliers are awarded for scoring the same type of points repeatedly.

Use the up arrow key to accelerate, and hold the back arrow key to reverse. Turn by pressing either the left or right arrow keys. Press space to unleash a spiked capturing ball for snaring Velociraptors. Use the B key to boost.

The installation of Unity's Web Player plugin is required to play.

A Time to Warp is an interesting effort developed by Scott Nelson for the Acoders Indie Game Making Competition 2004. The objective is to collect colored orbs in a certain order, shown on the bottom left of the screen.

Crates have to be shot at using the space bar to reveal the orbs contained inside. Brown orbs should be avoided, while white orbs can be collected for an extra life. Each stage is presented to the player differently, depending on the year you're currently in.

1213 Episode 1 is the latest game released by Yahtzee, as he continues to push the limitations of an aging AGS engine. Not content with Galaxy of Fantabulous Wonderment, he has created a platformer with some adventuring bits that combines the best elements of Prince of Persia, Another World and Flashback with a touch of horror thrown into the mix.

Follow the story of an imprisoned amnesiac as he seeks to escape from his captor, a mysterious figure who addresses his prisoner as a number, hence the title. Like Mechner's classic, the protagonist can jump and climb ledges by pressing Space or pushing the up arrow key.

You're armed with a gun that can be fired repeated by holding down the TAB button. There is a bit of inventory management involved as your character can only carry a single item at any one time. A tutorial has been worked into the story seamlessly so you can get a feel of the controls without even noticing it.

Dark Oberon is an open source real-time strategy game similar to Warcraft II released under the GPL, featuring sprites created from shots of real models made out of plasticine. The current version only support multiplayer games, but expect a campaign mode to be developed in the near future. Guardian of Paradise is a fun little Zelda-ish game by Buster, who you may know as having created Akuji the Demon. GoP casts you as Tela, a boy whose sister has fallen ill. Nobody knows what´s wrong with her, so there seems to be no cure, but legends tell of healing waters in Paradise, so Tela sets out to find the fabled land and save his sister. He encounters elemental spirits along the way, which provide magic, and the basis for the game´s puzzle system.

To the best of my knowledge, and I´ve played through three areas so far, Tela never gets any magic expansions. His MP gauge is carefully regulated, and can be replenished by picking up the magic coins that scatter when enemies are destroyed. The coins are plentiful so there´s no real need to worry about magic except in certain situations, but that´s usually part of a puzzle. You can only have one elemental spirit summoned at any given time; destroy an enemy of an alternate element and pick up its different-colored magic coins to summon a different elemental. The system is quite simple at heart, and is easy to get used to, but it allows for some very interesting puzzles. The game is quite fun, and it´s freeware to boot! Two thumbs up.

In Dr. Lutz and the Time Travel Machine, Dr. Abraham Lutz is desperately trying to prove his own theories about why dinosaurs vanished from Earth sixty-five million years ago. And the only way to do that is going to the Jurassic period by using a time machine.

Right click to cycle through the various interaction choices. A short game with some awkward combination puzzles and a rather abrupt ending, but charming enough to hold your attention until the end.

The Desolate Room is one of those releases where the introductory sequence makes little sense, and still screenshots doesn't portray the game in motion too favorably. The author has also included a tiring fetch quest during the first fifteen minutes of the player's adventure, but things do look up after the team encounters it's first boss battle.

A game in progress is saved automatically whenever the player leaves and exits a battle or the console. Each of your party members has to charge up before allowed to access their individual skills and attacks. Left click to shoot enemies in the console or make menu selections. Double click on a skill or attack in the upgrade screen shown after a battle to increase it's level and efficiency.

Base Invaders is basically a different take on the popular 'defend the base' strategy game, developed by Seventh Sigma as another DigiPen project. Your objective is to repel enemy waves by building walls and placing elaborate traps around your tower.

There's a proper tutorial to help new users familiarize themselves with the controls, and each level introduces a new weapon or two instead of offering the entire selection immediately at the start and baffling players in the process.

Much like Dungeon Keeper, you can pick up the Invaders and throw them to inflict damage as well. The game includes a challenge mode and the excellent Invaderpedia, which offers inside information on every enemy type.

Akatsuki BK is a title from Japan that pays homage to SNK's fighting game series. The demo only showcases four characters, but as evident from the character sheet there are quite a number of moves available.

It also has a complex fighting system to rival many of the classic arcade fighting games, and the 2D graphics and animation is just as impressive. Well worth a look.

Key configuration is a little messed up though. The numeric keypad controls character movements. Light, medium and heavy attacks are mapped to the J, K and L keys.
